Long Island Laboring Against COVID-19

On March 23, 2020 LILAC was officially formed with a GoFundMe Campaign. On March 24, 2020, LILAC's Founder and Executive Director Sabrina Guo published in the Syosset Jericho Tribune "Thank You to our Heros," and LILAC'S ThankYou & WeCare Initiative was born.

 

Our ThankYou & WeCare Arts Initiative raises our community’s spirits by compiling and distributing encouraging letters, cards, artwork, calligraphy, and creative videos in a dedicated space where all can come to enjoy uplifting works which show solidarity, support, and appreciation. So far, LILAC has created over 200 original pieces of artwork which have been delivered to various places like hospitals, nursing homes, government offices, cultural centers, veterans posts, and much more!

 

We have also cultivated a series in support of the Black Lives Matter movement in solidarity with our Black brothers and sisters in the US and around the world who face police brutality, discrimination, and systemic racism. Some of the artworks from this series are exhibited in the Nassau County Legislative Hall.

LILAC has also recently released our "Compassion in Action" documentary series on our YouTube Channel, featuring behind-the-scenes footage of our ThankYou & WeCare process. We are happy to distributing these submissions to workers and patients, both in-person to the Long Island community and virtually on our website, YouTube, and Instagram. Join us!
